The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Wednesday expressed confidence it can also surpass its full-year collection target for 2023.
In an interview on PTV’s public briefing, BOC spokesperson and Customs Operations chief Arnaldo dela Torre Jr. said the Development Budget Coordination Committee has set a collection target of P901.337 billion for the Customs this year.As of early November 2022, the BOC alreadyDela Torre said all of the BOC’s 17 districts reached their respective collection targets.
The BOC official said the agency will implement modernization projects to ensure operational efficiency. On its fight against agriculture smuggling, Dela Torre said the Customs has seized over P1.9 billion smuggled agricultural products in 2022, of which P500 million to P600 million are onions.
