The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has asked for a report on possible stricter gun control laws. The motion also endorsed a bi-partisan framework now moving through the U.S. Senate.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted on Tuesday to pursue numerous measures that would make it more difficult to obtain a firearm in the unincorporated areas of the county.
The other gun control measures being considered include: banning the sale of certain large-caliber handguns, enacting safe-storage laws, preventing a gun vendor from selling firearms near a school and prohibiting anyone on the no-fly list from buying a handgun “Gun control measures like age limits, background checks, red flag laws, and banning of certain weapons are correlated with lower rates of gun violence,” stated the county motion, which includes more stringent measures than what is being considered in Congress.
Tuesday’s motion states that California already has “some of the most robust gun control measures in the nation, but there are still some areas that Los Angeles County could expand upon.”
