There are several ways to explain how mind-numbing Bloomberg's new spending is.
On Thursday of last week,showed that of the $17.3 million raised by the"yes" on Prop. 31 committee, $15.3 million had come from Bloomberg, a billionaire and former presidential candidate. Because the"no" committee had raised just $2.1 million, it meant that Bloomberg had spent 79% of the money in the race.
New records posted to the California Secretary of State's website show that in mid-October, Bloomberg gave another $20.3 million to the committee supporting Prop. 31. He's now responsible for a whopping 90% of the money in the race. There are several ways to explain how astounding Bloomberg's new spending is. Not only did Bloomberg more than double his previous contributions , he more than doubled the total amount money spent in the race by both sides , bringing the total to $39.7 million. With a total of $35.6 million invested in the race, Bloomberg's money dwarfs the total spending on two other California ballot measures: Prop. 1, which would add abortion protections to California's constitution , and Prop.
