Malaysian blogger Papagomo has been arrested by police for allegedly manipulating a company's name to collect funds through fraudulent donations. The investigation is ongoing and several individuals have been questioned.

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is completing an investigation into a case of donation fraud involving the manipulation of a company's name, implicating blogger Papagomo or Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris. Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, said that several things need to be updated before the investigation papers are referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor. “So far, 16 individuals have been taken in for questioning to assist in the investigation of the case.

“After the investigation papers are completed, they will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action,” he said when contacted by Utusan Malaysia here today. Last Friday, police confirmed that Papagomo was arrested at his home in Putrajaya by the Anti-Money Laundering (AMLA) Investigation Unit of Bukit Aman. It is also understood that the 41-year-old man was arrested to assist in the investigation into a case of manipulating a company's name to collect funds from the public. It is understood that the arrest was made following a police report lodged by a minister last July. During the arrest, police also seized Papagomo's mobile phone and the blogger is now detained at the Dang Wangi Police District Headquarters (IPD) for further investigations. Meanwhile, lawyer, Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali in a statement said, Wan Muhammad Azri was arrested around 1.30 am and the report related to an issue concerning the company Invoke Solutions. “The court, after hearing the arguments and has ordered a one-day remand. Further developments will be informed,” he said.– UTUSA
