Blasts rock Philippines hours before midterm polls

AT least three explosions rocked city of Cotabato and neighbouring Maguindanao province in the southern Philippines a few hours before a national midterm election, the Xinhua news agency reported, quoting military and police authorities as saying today. Lieutenant Teofisto Ferrer of the Cotabato City police said the first explosion occurred about 10.15pm last night just outside the Cotabato City Hall compound.
