San Diego Unified School District flies the Black Lives Matter flag over its headquarters for Black History Month.
A Black Lives Matter flag is now flying over the San Diego Unified School District headquarters in University Heights.
The board of trustees decided to raise the Black Lives Matter flag to show the district's commitment to diversity and equality across all campuses. Stephanie Adegeye,12, is in seventh grade at Millennial Tech Middle School. “Being a Black person is an ongoing journey, but you can never ever give up," she said.
While the BLM flag is a symbol of celebration, there are some Black education leaders who say there is still plenty of work to be done, especially when it comes to social justice and education here in California.
