Authorities said Horace Dantai Burgess Jr. sold methamphetamine to law enforcement on multiple occasions.
Horace Dantai Burgess Jr. on Wednesday was sentenced to nearly six years after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, distribution of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute heroin, according to a joint announcement Thursday by Northern District of Alabama U.S. Attorney Prim Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp Jr.
“Violent street gangs often fund their illegal activities by trafficking illegal drugs,” Escalona said. “By focusing drug enforcement efforts on gang-related dealers, our law enforcement partners can reduce both the violence and the drugs that plague our communities.” His brother, 23-year-old Darius Emale Craig Jr., pleaded guilty in February to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and two counts of distribution of methamphetamine.
