The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has reshuffled around 70 of its examiners in Metro Manila in an effort to enhance tax collection and prevent undue familiarity with taxpayers. | ManilaBulletin
BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui, Jr. took the move recently signing three travel assignment orders affecting primarily group supervisors and examiners stationed in various district offices all over the metropolis.
The BIR also intensified the crackdown on tax dodging rackets such as businesses failing to issue receipts to customers or issuing fraudulent receipts and invoices as well as declaring ghost transactions to reduce tax payments and even claim value-added tax refund.
