Model Rosie Viva was experiencing mania when she triggered the mass evacuation of Stansted Airport.

Fashion model Rosie Viva was diagnosed with bipolar disorder aged 22, after she caused Stansted Airport to evacuate all its waiting passengers.

"When she answered, it shattered the illusion," Rosie says. "I realised that it was real life and I had reached breaking point. I felt such a sense of panic.""I jumped through the baggage drop-off. There was a fire alarm on the left-hand side and I just remember hitting that with my hand. The policemen reached Rosie as the rest of the airport was being evacuated. They quickly realised she needed to go to hospital and had been hallucinating.

That break-up with her boyfriend had been one of the first signs something was seriously wrong. Rather than feeling devastated, Rosie felt jubilant and energised. Her friends assumed she must be trying to cover-up her heartbreak."My parents lost a son to leukaemia when he was seven years old and I'd started sharing online that I felt I was a reincarnation of him."

A bed was found for her in a psychiatric ward and she was sectioned under the Mental Health Act, to ensure she was safe and received the right treatment. She would stay as an inpatient for the next three months. Rosie also has "rapid cycling" and has smaller up and down mood swings which can occur within hours of each other."There's no manual," Rosie says and manages it as best she can. "I honestly take my medication religiously and I've come to accept that is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
