NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet pledges 'in principle' support for the legislation, while Labor leader Chris Minns says there is no place for the 'dangerous and damaging' practices.
But he said any bill that comes before the next parliament will have to be carefully assessed.
The premier's pledge follows a commitment from Labor to ban gay conversion practices if it wins the state election on March 25. "We should not have a situation where children are being told something is wrong with them and that they need to be fixed." And he has made it clear that his support for either party will be contingent on them backing his Conversion Practices Prohibition Bill.
