Coles Group head of government and industry relations told the House of Representatives standing committee on economics that Australian consumers are changing what they buy amid budgets getting squeezed, and are ditching the one weekly shop.
“People tend to buy more of the products that are in season because they tend to be more available and they’re at a better price point,” she said. Bon added that many shoppers were moving from a once a week large grocery shop, to a smaller basket, shopping more frequently, paying attention to when there were specials lodged.
