Rob Schneider shares Bill Murray hated the '90s SNL cast when he hosted. 'Absolutely hated us. I mean, seething...He hated Chris Farley with a passion.'
Saturday Night Live alum Rob Schneider says that Bill Murray hated the SNL cast in the 1990s. Known for producing some of the greatest names in comedy, SNL has been on the air since 1975. The show often features a host and musical guest, while including an ensemble cast that performs satirical shorts and comedic sketches that often have to do with current events in the news or pop culture.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY After his time as a cast member, Murray returned to SNL as a host five times between 1981 and 1999, acting alongside numerous cast members including Rob Schneider, the late Chris Farley, and Adam Sandler in 1993. Schneider departed from the show in 1994 and went on to act in supporting roles in several films. Farley also departed a year later in 1995, returning to host once in 1997, two months before his death. Sandler was fired from the series in 1995.
"Bill Murray, he's gonna come, he's gonna change the lyrics, the dialogue, he's gonna change things. And it's gonna be great. But you don't know which Bill Murray you're gonna get, the nice Bill Murray? Or the tough Bill Murray? He's super nice to fans, he wasn't very nice to us. He hated us on Saturday Night Live when he hosted. Absolutely hated us. I mean, seething...He hated Chris Farley with a passion. Like he was just seething looking at him.
The Allegations Against Bill Murray, Explained Schneider himself is no stranger to controversy in his career, having slammed SNL in 2016 for its post-election sketch due to his conservative stance. However, his account of Murray's behind the scenes hate of the cast members is the latest in a series of stories about the comedian's on-set behavior that are resurfacing.
While Murray is beloved for his effortlessly witty and unassuming persona, the stories of his on-set behavior are a reminder that actors are not always who they seem. After the incident on Being Mortal, Murray expressed a willingness to learn from his mistakes and make things right with the colleague that made the complaint against him.
