Fox News host Neil Cavuto clashed with Democratic congressman Al Green on Tuesday over whether Donald Trump can or should be impeached, just days after Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said it’s “not worth” impeaching the president.
“We should not allow political expediency––wait until the next election––to Trump the moral imperative to act when there is harm being caused to society,” the congressman replied. Cavuto then argued that if Green wanted to impeach Trump for allegedly being “a racist” then he’s “redefining what is an impeachable offense.” “Not at all,” Green replied, before Cavuto asked he was concerned that creating “looser standards” for impeachment could result in the impeachment of a future Democratic president.
Green and Cavuto continued to debate the issue for several more minutes, with the Democrat arguing that “bigotry is impeachable” and the Fox News host noting that “you have to prove bigotry.”
