A member of the Big Hazard street gang who organized racially motivated firebomb attacks in Boyle Heights has pleaded guilty

Members of Latino street gang Big Hazard admitted to carrying out firebombing attacks on black families in a Boyle Heights housing development.

Carlos Hernandez, 34, pleaded guilty to five felonies, including using fire and carrying explosives to commit a federal felony and conspiracy to violate civil rights, the U.S. attorney’s office announced Tuesday.out of the Ramona Gardens housing development. Hernandez gave each of the other seven gang members involved in the firebombings specific roles and items to use in the attacks, including masks and a hammer, prosecutors said.
