Some consulting firms said newly minted grads are not in danger of losing their full-time offers. They just don’t know when they’ll start.
By Patrick Thomas Close Patrick Thomas May 17, 2020 9:00 am ET Some of the largest consulting firms, including McKinsey & Co. and Boston Consulting Group, are pushing back start dates for some of their newest hires.
McKinsey said it is delaying start dates for some new hires by one to three months, depending on the personal needs of the new hire and government restrictions, such as difficulties obtaining a visa. Many students from the class of 2020 have had job offers in hand since the fall, when consulting firms recruited heavily on university campuses.
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP said its first class of hires is being onboarded in July and others will start throughout late summer and fall. Bain & Co. said it re-evaluates its start dates and makes adjustments every year to reflect business demand.
