KJP has no answer for reporter who calls out Biden for inviting 'Tennessee Three' to White House but not the families of Covenant School victims. READ:
President Joe Biden will welcome the"Tennessee Three" to the White House on Monday but has not extended invitations to the families of the victims of the shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville.
State Reps. Justin Jones, Justin Pearson, and Gloria Johnson, all Democrats, led anti-gun violence protests responding to the Covenant shooting onto the state House floor, prompting Republican legislators to vote to oust them. Pearson and Jones, both of whom are black, were temporarily removed from the body, while Johnson, who is white, was not voted out of office.
Later in the briefing, however, Jean-Pierre was pressed on whether Biden planned on inviting family members of the victims to the White House. She responded that she didn't"have anything at this time to read out" and defended Biden's decision on how the invites had been issued. "The president is focused on getting things done. He's focused on making sure that we are protecting our communities, that we're protecting our schools, that we're protecting our churches, we're protecting our grocery stores," Jean-Pierre explained."That's why he's bringing these legislators here to have that conversation and to see what else can be done. And to highlight that the president is using the bully pulpit.
"We cannot have weapons of war in our streets. We cannot have weapons of war in our schools," she continued."And so that's why he's bringing them there. He's bringing them here to continue that conversation."You can watch Wednesday's briefing in full below.
