The proposed P5.268 trillion national budget for 2023 was approved by the Bicameral Conference Committee after reconciling the versions of the Senate and the House of Representatives. Members of the bicam panel convened on Monday at the Manila Golf and Country Club in Makati City to tackle the spending plan for the coming year.
The panel was jointly presided by Sen. Juan Edgardo 'Sonny' Angara, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, and Rep. Elizaldy Co of the Ako Bicol Party-list, chairperson of the House Appropriations Committee. 'The Philippine economy would benefit greatly from the 4% increase in the budget for 2023,' Angara said. The 2023 budget will have to be ratified in plenary by both chambers.
