A former editor who worked at the likes of CLEO, Cosmo and Good Food has revealed how she stepped away from a glittering career in magazines to launch a natural perfume line stocked in Sephora and Adore Beauty. Nedahl Stelio, 48, from Sydney, first ditched products with chemicals in them when she struggled to get pregnant, and so she knew there was a gap in the market when it came to natural, clean fragrances without any additives.
“Typically, when I’m making one, I’ll have a huge mood board with images, words, notes, briefs on the perfumer, and then we go back and forth with many variations to develop a fragrance together.” While sometimes Nedahl said it comes easily, other times she needs “multiple versions” before she lands on the one for one of her scents. After launching in 2019, it wasn’t long before Recreation Beauty saw success.
