Bersatu is welcomed by Gagasan Rakyat to contest for the 11 DUN seats previously held by the party but now controlled by Gagasan Rakyat. The invitation comes after all Bersatu ADUNs left the party and joined Gagasan Rakyat earlier this year. Masidi Manjun, Deputy President of Gagasan Rakyat, states that the party welcomes the competition and sees it as an opportunity for voters to choose their representation.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia ( Bersatu ) has been invited to reclaim all the state legislative assembly (DUN) seats it won in the previous state election (PRN). Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Deputy President of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), stated that the country practices a democratic system, allowing anyone to contest, including in the Karanaan state assembly constituency won by Bersatu in the previous state election.
He welcomed Bersatu's potential bid to retake the seats, emphasizing that there are no obstacles and that elections are competitive events, not personal battles. \Masidi stressed that in Sabah, they view political competition as non-personal, acknowledging diverse political practices while maintaining a culture of respect. He confirmed that he was responding to Bersatu's declared intention to reclaim the 11 DUN seats it previously held but are now held by Gagasan Rakyat after all Bersatu ADUNs left the party in December 2022 and joined Gagasan Rakyat in February 2023. \Masidi highlighted that Sabah's political landscape is characterized by ethical and friendly politics, but ultimately, the decision rests with the voters. He expressed confidence based on the positive feedback he receives from constituents during his weekly visits to his hometown. On Thursday, Bersatu Deputy President, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, announced their intention to contest over 18 seats in PRN17, including seats previously held by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) under the Bersatu banner. - UTUSA
