Bersatu establishes a special task force led by vice presidents to restructure divisions and party wings following recent expulsions, including that of Hamzah Zainuddin. PETALING JAYA: Bersatu has formed a special task force to carry out the restructuring of divisions and party wings, following the latest expulsions of party members, including former deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
In a statement on Saturday , party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the task force would be jointly chaired by two vice presidents, Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin and Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu. Meanwhile, party secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali would act as the task force's secretariat."The restructuring of these divisions will involve the appointment of acting division heads or the formation of new division committees in accordance with the party’s constitution. "Party wings affected by resignations will also be reorganised through acting appointments or the formation of new committees," Muhyiddin said. He also said Bersatu has a pool of successors and active members in every division who are ready to shoulder greater responsibilities to strengthen the party. "I am confident that many loyal Bersatu members will step forward to take on the mandate. I also wish to emphasise that Bersatu remains committed to the struggle of Perikatan Nasional." Muhyiddin also said he would attend the Perikatan Nasional Extraordinary Supreme Council Meeting on Sunday which is reported to be held at PAS's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. "In this regard, I will attend the meeting, which will decide on the appointment of the Chairman of Perikatan Nasional and other matters related to strengthening and empowering the coalition."
