Bernie Sanders wins over Pete Buttigieg in New Hampshire Democratic primary, Newsweek projects

With more than 85 percent of precincts reporting in New Hampshire, Sanders lead with 26 percent of the vote share to Buttigieg's 24.4 percent.

Bernie Sanders has won in the New Hampshire Democratic 2020 primary over former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, according to aprojection, an expected victory that will give the Vermont senator momentum as he heads for tougher states further south.

Senator Amy Klobuchar trailed behind in third with 19.8, Senator Elizabeth Warren came in fourth with 9.3 percent and former Vice President Joe Biden followed in fifth with 8.4 percent.Some voters in the state said Sanders' win was expected, given recent polling data and his easy 2016 win against Hillary Clinton. New Hampshire also neighbors the progressive candidate's home state of Vermont.
