PETALING JAYA: Berjaya Corporation Bhd menafikan satu laporan Bloomberg bahawa pengasasnya Vincent Tan, terbabit dengan perbincangan dengan Perdana Menteri Anwar Ibrahim untuk membuka sebuah kasino di Forest City, Johor.
Berjaya dalam kenyataan berkata, berita itu yang turut dilapor The Edge Singapore, mengandungi maklumat tidak tepat dan memberi gambaran yang salah pembabitan syarikat itu dalam perbincangan dengan Anwar berhubung Forest City.“Kami ingin menjelaskan bahawa Tan tidak mengambil bahagian dalam sebarang rundingan sedemikian dan menyangkal dakwaan tidak tepat yang dikemukakan dalam artikel berkenaan,” kata kenyataan itu.

Laporan itu turut menyebut perjudian adalah salah satu sektor yang paling dikawal selia di Malaysia, dengan lesen kasino perlu diperbaharui setiap tiga bulan mengikut budi bicara menteri kewangan.Bagaimanapun, Anwar yang juga menteri kewangan menafikan laporan itu dengan berkata, “Tiada…mereka bangkit lesen kasino…itu tipu.”
Pada 2014, New Straits Times melaporkan Tan mahu menghidupkan semula rancangan untuk mengendalikan kasino di Berjaya Hills Resort di Pahang.
