Sydney activist Danny Lim says he'll be back smiling again soon after being injured in an attack on Friday.
Lim, 79, was attacked at Strathfield train station at 4pm while campaigning for a Yes vote in the referendum for an Indigenous Voice to parliament. He was taken to Concord Hospital for a CT scan.Lim told 9News the attack left him feeling "shocked, sick and scared".A passerby got involved to try to stop the alleged attack, an act that Lim says "really gave him hope".
Police are using security footage to determine how and why the alleged altercation began. It is unclear if he was attacked because of his campaigning.He suffered a brain bleed in December last year after police arrested him for allegedly failing to comply with a moveon order outside Sydney's Queen Victoria Building.
He was also once slapped with a fine for offensive conduct over a vulgar sign which criticised then prime minister Tony Abbott.Continue reading
