Domenico Tedesco expects a test of his younger players but is confident his side will deal with the X-factor of Ireland under new management
Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco predicts more of the same from the home side on Saturday evening despite Ireland's change of management. The 38-year-old managed Schalke to second place in the Bundesliga in his first year in charge.
The Belgians' more recent fixture was a 5-0 victory over Azerbaijan in November, the cherry on top to end a qualifying campaign that saw them go unbeaten throughout.Next up for Tedesco and his players after their Aviva visit will be a trip to Wembley on Tuesday to face England. "It's a really, really strong team in counter pressing. Ireland have good players inside in many positions, and I think the characteristics will stay the same."The most recent meeting of the sides came in the March window in 2022, when Alan Browne's goal four minutes from time secured a 2-2 draw in a friendly for Stephen Kenny's side against the visitors.
Also missing will be AC Milan's young defender Charles de Ketelaere, who failed a fitness test on Thursday morning.
