The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) announced on Friday it would refer to Hamas as a 'proscribed terrorist organization' following backlash.
Hamas will now be referred to as a 'proscribed terrorist organization' by the British Broadcasting Corporation after it was reported that it wouldn't refero to Hamas as 'terrorists' in its coverage. Following Hamas’ invasion of Israel on October 7, the BBC repeatedly referred to the organization as 'freedom fighters,' 'gunmen' or 'militants' rather than terrorists.
Davie is also set to meet with Members of Parliament on Wednesday over the BBC’s coverage of the Israel-Gaza war. In a statement to 'The Sunday Times,' a member of Parliament was quoted saying, 'The BBC are losing people because they aren't behaving in a way that meets the majority of viewers' expectations of them. Not to describe Hamas's actions as a terrorist attack was pretty pathetic and that has undermined so much of what has followed.
