De La Salle hasn’t started a season without a victory through three games since going 0-2-1 in 2004.
The Spartans are 0-2 this season as they travel to St. Francis on Friday night for the first time since their 30-year unbeaten streak against regional opponents ended there two years ago.The rematch headlines a Week 3 lineup that also includes top-ranked Serra visiting Central Catholic-Modesto, Oakland schools Bishop O’Dowd and McClymonds meeting for the first time in 11 years and Los Gatos playing host to Grant-Sacramento.

Last year in San Mateo, Serra won 42-30. Central Catholic won on the road over Bishop Manogue-Reno 16-7 last week after falling at Stockton powerhouse St. Mary’s 42-33 the previous week. CC quarterback and Wentworth lead the CC rushing attack. WR/S, a Cal commit, has caught 10 passes for 214 yards and a TD. Serra is the undisputed No.
Grant-Sacramento wanted a 10th regular season game. Los Gatos needed a game on short notice. So last weekend they communicated and voila! Grants is visiting the Wildcats on Friday night. This would have been a great matchup had it been planned two years ago. Last minute? Wow! Los Gatos was supposed to visit Live Oak, but the home team canceled. No reason has been given.
