A stunning new Star Wars cosplay shows Barriss Offee wielding Forcce lightning - could this sinister idea actually become canon in Ahsoka..?
A chilling new Star Wars cosplay shows fallen Jedi Barriss Offee wielding Force lightning. Palpatine envisioned the Clone Wars as the ultimate Jedi trap; the Jedi lost simply because they took part, because war involves a desire for domination. By participating in the Clone Wars, the Jedi unwittingly opened themselves up to the dark side - and even Jedi who realized what was going on were left vulnerable.
Barriss Offee, a good friend of Anakin Skywalker's Padawan Ahsoka Tano, is a classic example. Barriss realized the Jedi had fallen, but she turned into the thing she feared, masterminding a terrorist attack on the Coruscant Jedi Temple itself. Now, an amazing cosplay by Berni Cos shows the logical endpoint of Barriss' journey.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The cosplay is stunning, with visual effects added to it that show Barris wielding Sith-style Force lightning. What Happened To Barriss Offee After The Clone Wars? Barriss Offee's fate after the Clone Wars is something of a mystery. Although she was arrested for the crime of bombing the Jedi Temple, Barriss was not executed - and, according to Lucasfilm's Dave Filoni, that was entirely deliberate. The nature of Filoni's plan is still something of a mystery, but there's intense speculation the mystery Inquisitor seen in trailers for Ahsoka could actually be Barriss.
As powerful as the Inquisitors may be, though, few seem to have mastered powerful dark side abilities such as Force lightning. This is because neither Palpatine nor Darth Vader sought to teach those particular skills; the dark side is competitive, and any Inquisitor who learned too much would naturally desire to supplant their masters. Even if Barriss Offee does return as one of Palpatine's pawns, then, she's unlikely to be another Force-lightning-wielder in Star Wars canon.
