Barberton man gets at least 21 years in prison for slaying of Akron teen

D’Lawrence Scott, 20, of Barberton, will be eligible for parole after serving 21 years for the shooting death of 15-year-old Jerry Davis last year.

D’Lawrence Scott, 20, of Barberton, will be eligible for parole after serving 21 years, according to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh.

Prosecutors say Scott was involved in an argument with his then-pregnant girlfriend in May 2022 at a residence on the 1000 block of Biruta Street in Akron. When the argument turned physical, Davis, the victim’s brother, and and an adult neighbor stepped in to help the woman, authorities say.
