Sri Paus Fransiskus melantik tiga orang wanita ke Dikasteri bagi Para Uskup, jabatan Vatikan yang bertanggung jawab untuk mengevaluasi anggota baru hierarki Gereja Katolik.Sr Raffaella Petrini, seorang Fransiskan, telah menjadi setiausaha agung gabenor Vatikan, jawatan kedua dalam pemerintahan Negara Vatikan, sejak November 2021.
Dr Maria Lia Zervino, seorang anggota dari Asosiasi Perawan-perawan yang Disucikan “Servidoras,” adalah presiden Persatuan Organisasi Wanita Katolik Dunia. Beliau juga seorang konsultan Dewan Kepausan untuk Dialog Antara Agama. Ketua Biara Benediktin Donato Ogliari, yang baru-baru ini diangkat menjadi ketua biara Santo Paulus di Luar Tembok, juga dilantik ke Dikasteri untuk Uskup, setelah lapan tahun memimpin biara Montecassino.
Keputusan akhir dalam melantik uskup ada di tangan Sri Paus, dan beliau bebas memilih siapa saja yang dia inginkan.
