kupang Sekumpulan nelayan menemui bangkai ikan paus biru 100,000 kilogram (100 tan) terdampar di Pantai Na Batu Kepala, Teluk Kupang, Nusa Tenggara Timur, pada Selasa.
Penemuan haiwan terbesar di dunia itu dengan ukuran 29 meter panjang itu ternyata mengejutkan orang ramai.Ketua Agensi Pemuliharaan Air Kupang, Ikram Sangadji berkata, pihaknya menerima laporan mengenai penemuan ikan paus berkenaan daripada penduduk kampung sebelum bergegas ke lokasi.
"Bangkai ikan paus itu ditemui nelayan kira-kira 10 pagi di perairan Kupang sebelum ia ditarik ke kawasan pantai pada 3 petang," katanya seperti dilaporkan The Jakarta Post. Ikram berkata, bangkai ikan paus biru itu itu ditanam di kawasan pantai dan tulangnya akan diambil untuk tujuan kajian dan pendidikan.
Beliau berkata, pihaknya memilih kawasan berhampiran Direktorat Umum Pemuliharaan Sumber Perikanan dan Lautan Kupang di Nunhila.Katanya, pemuliharaan yang dijalankan kelak akan digunakan sebagai bahan pendidikan dan membolehkan kajian lanjut termasuk dari segi anatomi dan habitat Penemuan itu bukan kali pertama berlaku kerana pada Januari lalu, ikan paus sperma ditemui mati di kawasan pokok bakau di Pantai Tasilo, daerah Rote Ndao.
