The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has warned players that they will face consequences if they continue to underperform, including star athletes. The association emphasizes its investment in high-profile coaches and expects better results from its players.

The Badminton Association of Malaysia ( BAM ) has stated its unwillingness to tolerate players who continue to underperform, including star athletes. Acting President of BAM Datuk V. Subramaniam emphasized that the association has made significant investments, including hiring renowned coaches like Kenneth Jonassen as the head coach for singles and Herry Iman Pierngadi for the men's doubles.

He believes that with experienced coaches in place, there should be no excuse for subpar performances in international tournaments. Subramaniam stated that the association considers the expenditure on coaches and players as an investment and will not accept any excuses for poor results. He clarified that the coaches will assess the players' performance and recommend necessary actions. Subramaniam also cautioned star players against using BAM as a means to secure sponsorships, asserting that the association has its own strategies for development and sponsorship. He refuted the notion that BAM's success relies solely on the presence of star players, stating that there are alternative plans to strengthen the development programs. He urged players to focus on achieving their best for the country, not solely for the association
