Baltimore police said Thursday they arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy from the District with multiple counts of attempted murder for the Oct. 3 shooting that injured five people.The D.C. teen is wanted on separate federal gun charges in the nation’s capital for his alleged role as part of the Kennedy Street Crew. Twelve members of the gang were arrested in June and accused of running an open-air drug market on multiple blocks in Kennedy Street NW.“In the past, D.C.
Baltimore police said the 17-year-old boy was identified after their officers, alongside the District’s Metropolitan Police and federal law enforcement agencies, combed through surveillance footage from the homecoming week shooting at Morgan State.“We will not rest until Williams is in custody,” Commissioner Richard Worley said in a statement.
Violent crime is up 40% in the District so far this year, with spikes in homicides , robberies and carjackings driving the trend.
