PETALING JAYA: A bakery here has taken a stand against racism after a customer's mother reportedly said that cakes made by a certain race are not delicious.

The Heart and Halo Vegan and Vegetarian bakery took to social media to say that while it was not its first experience encountering racism, it hoped that this would be the last as racial discrimination can not be tolerated.

"Today, we got a call asking what's our head baker's race," read the post on the bakery's Instagram stories, which added that it answered the caller's question. The bakery added that the customer then said that they were"very sorry" and said that the client does not share their mother's opinion. "It doesn't work that way. Despite the love and effort we give for our bakery every day, our skin colour is still a factor in determining if we make a sale," it said.
