Running back James Butler, who is fifth in the Canadian Football League in rushing yardage , sat out practice Thursday at their Surrey facility and head Rick Campbell said afterwards that he’ll be examined again by team personnel Friday morning before the squad heads to Calgary. Butler, a 27-year-old from Chicago who played his college football at Iowa, didn’t practise Tuesday. He was a full participant with the Lions on Wednesday. The team injury report Thursday was listing him as dealing with both ankle and rib issues.

“We’re going to make a decision in the morning. I trust that guy and he’s a tough guy, but I have to make sure in the morning that he’s well enough to play,” Campell said of Butler, who’s in his second year as a Lion.Article content Bruce Anderson, who was on B.C.’s practice roster as of Thursday, took the first-team running back repetitions at practice. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Anderson signed with B.C. as a free agent in February after getting into three games last season with the Edmonton Elks,, who used him as a kick returner.
