San Diego State defense can't stop the Falcons after first drive in lopsided loss; SDSU kicker Jack Browning boots record 61-yard field goal
The wall between the press box and the opposing coaches box at Falcon Stadium is paper-thin.
SDSU’s only other bright spot came at the end of the first half, when kicker Jack Browning made a 61-yard field goal to make it 21-10 at halftime.Browning broke the school record held by Ed Corral, who kicked a 57-yard field goal in 1980 at Air Force. The Falcons added a defensive score in the third quarter when defensive back Trey Taylor intercepted a pass by Mayden and returned it 30 yards for a TD.
They closed out the 2009 season with four straight losses for a 4-8 finish in coach Brady Hoke’s first season guiding the program. This loss delivered a crushing blow to SDSU’s hopes of playing for the 2023 Mountain West championship.That means the Aztecs would have to win their remaining six games while the Falcons or Broncos each lose at least three games in order to finish ahead of one or both teams.
