San Diego State finally nails down home-and-home series against Stanford

San Diego State has tried to schedule Stanford in men’s basketball several times over the past decade. They’ve had a few closed-door preseason scrimmages, but tentative agreements for regular-season games kept falling through for one reason or another.

The Cardinal isn’t the national power it was under Mike Montgomery in the 1990s and early 2000s, reaching the NCAA Tournament 10 straight years and the Final Four in 1998. Current coach Jerod Haase hasn’t been to the tournament in six seasons, and predecessor Johnny Dawkins went only once in eight years.
