Australian-born Danielle McGahey is set to become the first transgender woman to feature in international cricket when she represents Canada at the Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers.
Cricket Canada has said McGahey was considered for selection once she fulfilled ICC’s regulations for transgender players.
The Americas Qualifier will be played in Los Angeles from 4 to 11 and will feature Argentina, Brazil, Canada and hosts USA with the winner to progress to the global Qualifiers for a spot in the T20 World Cup, to be played in Bangladesh. International cycling’s policy requires athletes to have their testosterone levels reduced to 2.5 nanomoles per litre for the previous two years.
