Mary Fowler has experienced a meteoric rise to the height of world soccer via community football in Queensland.Mary Fowler is on the hunt for Australia’s most deserving reserve-grade side in need of financial support.In partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation and Uber, Fowler is determined to tackle declining participation in community sport, courtesy of a $50,000 grant for the country’s most deserving reserve-grade side.

“I really love underdogs, I love underdog stories. You just never know how far … can go for someone, and go for a team,” she said. “I resonate with their fighting community spirit, as it spurred my love for soccer 14 years ago in my home town of Cairns. Without it, I simply wouldn’t be where I am today, playing professionally and for my national team.”

Entries open today and close at midnight on March 31, when the winner will be chosen by a panel including Mary Fowler, the hosts of theMatildas star Mary Fowler – pictured with Rise & Shine kindergarten pupils in Carlton, NSW – has teamed up with the ASF and Uber to support community sport.“As our research has shown, now is a more important time than ever to get behind Aussie grassroots sport,” ASF spokesperson Ryan Holloway said.
