Canberra says it will oppose the death penalty for Australian native Julian Assange amid fears that he could be exposed to capital punishment if he is extradited to the US
Julian Assange is carried by Metropolitan Police officers during his arrest and taken into custody following the Ecuadorian government's termination of asylum, in London, Britain on April 11, 2019.
The 47-year-old would have to face the consequences of any breach of the law in foreign jurisdictions, Morrison said. "The extradition process itself is a matter between the United States and the United Kingdom, but we have also been provided with that advice from the UK," Payne told reporters.
