Aurora City Council to vote on changes to ordinance regulating tattoo parlors

The current law allows for two tattoo parlor licenses, but there are actually four parlors in the city.

But the new law will not expand the number of licenses available, at least for now, said Marissa Spencer, the assistant corporation counsel for Aurora who worked on the ordinance.

“At this time we’re not going to change the section on the number of licenses,” Spencer said. “In the future, we will increase it to four.” The new language also establishes that a tattoo business must close by 10 p.m., although an artist can continue to work on a customer that came in before 10 p.m. The tattoo businesses cannot open before 8 a.m.
