PETALING JAYA: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik’s winning mentality is contagious.
Buoyed by the doubles pair world championships success, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah rose to the occasion to stun South Korea’s world No. 3 Lee So-hee-Shin Seung-chan to storm into the second round of the Japan Open in Osaka yesterday.
“It gave us huge motivation and we are also really happy and proud of them because we know how hard they’ve worked,” said Pearly. Rexy said Pearly-Thinaah are more confident playing against the world’s top-five pairs and that showed in the fightback yesterday. In men’s doubles, Aaron-Wooi Yik’s Tokyo heroics was not enough to inspire Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun.
