After five years of lobbying and a significant investment, the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River hopes a local childcare centre will be open by the end of the year.
What's next? After five years of lobbying and a significant financial investment, a small community in southern Western Australia hopes local parents will be able to enjoy some relief from a crippling childcare shortage by the end of the year.
On Tuesday night, the council approved $100,000 worth of funding for the project with the hope it will be open by the end of the year."We decided that $100,000 investment in Augusta for childcare is probably the best $100,000 that has been spent in Augusta for a very long time," she said.Back in 2019, new mother and Augusta resident Jasmine Meagher could not put her child into care unless she was willing to drive 90 kilometres to Margaret River.
"It just provides so much vibrancy to our community to be able to provide that service for a young family."
