'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' keep raking in the cash after a month in theaters.
The Big Picture Blue Beetle takes the top spot of the domestic box office with his debut, after almost an entire month of Barbie holding the position. The latest entry in the DC Extended Universe grossed $25.4 million in North America over the course of the weekend, and while it might look like yet another underwhelming number for the studio that owns the rights to the Justice League, it remains to be seen just how strongly it can hold on over the next few weeks.
Just as this summer movie season comes to its natural conclusion, there are still plenty of spooks to be enjoyed during the fall. The Conjuring franchise continues with The Nun II — the Taissa Farmiga-led sequel is set to hit theaters on September 8. Beyond that horror franchise’s return, The Exorcist: Believer will introduce a classic cinema concept to a new generation before Five Nights at Freddy’s brings in a crew of four animatronics to lighten up the mood on Halloween.

'Barbie' Lights Up the Dance Floor The biggest movie of the summer is about to become the biggest movie of the year, with Barbie earning another $21.03 million at the domestic box office. The blockbuster starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie totals around $566 million at the domestic box office, while it nears $1.3 billion when combined with what it has earned all over the world.
'Oppenheimer' Performs Like an Action Blockbuster On the other side of Barbie’s box office run, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is still going strong, telling the story of the man behind the atomic bomb, and the mixed feelings he faced while creating the device that could end the world. Cillian Murphy delivered one of the best performances of his career, in the R-rated drama that grossed around $11 million at the domestic box office this weekend.
