Audit finds a dozen NSW MPs without working with children checks | LisaVisentin
Last year was the first election at which every candidate was required to sign a more comprehensive child protection disclosure.
Under NSW law, all candidates are required to sign a child protection declaration before contesting a state election, disclosing whether they have working with children clearances or if they have been convicted of offences against children. The reports did not identify the politicians. It is not mandatory for politicians to have working with children clearances.
The 2019 election was the first time candidates were required to complete a more comprehensive child protection disclosure form, following changes to the Electoral Act in 2017.
