China’s world-beating electric vehicle industry, at the heart of growing trade tensions with the US and Europe, is set to receive a big boost from the government’s latest effort to accelerate growth.

Chief executive officer Chris Hsu said the company has already invested more than US$55 million in the group’s inaugural manufacturing facility outside of China, in Free Trade Zone III, Batu Berendam here."The new facility has initiated manufacturing activities and will expand production capacity to better serve customers in Malaysia and surrounding regions," he said during a press conference following the opening ceremony of ATX Semiconductor Sdn Bhd here today.

He emphasised the positive impact on the economy and employment opportunities in Melaka as well as the facilitation of technology transfer and talent development between China and Malaysia.
