The drugs were discovered wrapped around the body of a man from Sarawak as he was passing through a scanning machine at 7.45am to catch a 9am flight to Surabaya, Indonesia.
After detaining the 41-year-old man and seizing the two kilogrammes worth of drugs, police were able to track his accomplice, who was waiting for him at klia2’s international departure hall.According to KLIA police chief Assistant Commissioner Zulkifli Adamsah, the two suspects are believed to be drug mules working for an international syndicate.
An initial investigation revealed that they had been paid RM12,000 to transport the drugs out of the country. Zulkifli added that both men were remanded until Nov 18; and that the case will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
