A gunman opened fire on a synagogue in East Jerusalem in what police believe is a terror attack, as fears mount for further violence between Israelis and Palestinians.
It's believed a car pulled out the front of the building on Friday about 8:15pm before the man emerged and shot a number of people.
Television footage showed bodies laying on the road covered in what appeared to be thermal blankets used normally to treat shock and hypothermia.Matanel Almalem, 18, who lives nearby told AFP news agency he"heard a lot of bullets". Israel Police later released a statement confirming there was a"terror attack in a synagogue in Jerusalem" and the terrorist involved had been"neutralised".
It follows a raid one day earlier in occupied West Bank where nine Palestinians, including seven militants, a woman, 61, and another civilian, were killed.
