The Reserve Bank of Australia will issue a rate decision after its policy meeting on Tuesday. Here are some expectations:: “February CPI inflation surprised to the downside and marked the 2nd straight fall in annual inflation which gives room for RBA to pause. We now expect the Bank to pause at the April meeting and end its tightening cycle at 3.6 per cent . At the March meeting, the RBA was contemplating a pause to reassess the outlook.
“A softer than expected March quarter inflation read will reduce the need for further hikes. We think the outcome could be softer based on fall already seen in the monthly inflation and, as we have previously flagged because the December quarter inflation report was held up by temporary factors.”
