The Astros manager said he enjoyed the band's show Saturday night in Minneapolis as well...

MINNEAPOLIS — His spirit waning amid a subpar start to the season, Dusty Baker sought solace backstage at U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday night with a former player and his friend named Flea.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers can’t stop the Astros’ awful start, but they did soothe some of Baker’s worries during their concert in Minneapolis. Baker got pit tickets and got to meet the band backstage courtesy of Bronson Arroyo.Baker managed Arroyo throughout his Cincinnati Reds tenure and — as he’s known to do — stayed in touch after their careers took them apart. Arroyo is an accomplished musician who released his second album in February.

Arroyo and Flea, the Chili Peppers' bassist, became friends through the music business. Baker used the connection to meet most of the band after Saturday’s show. “Bronson and Flea are friends, so Bronson set it up,” Baker said. “Flea is pretty good, man. I met the drummer, he was in shape. I remember him hitting the field. He was beating on these drums for an hour … It was pretty cool, real cool. I got reminded of some things.”

Baker apparently left a lasting impression. Flea fired off a tweet at 2:34 a.m. to tell the world Baker attended his show and how much Houston’s skipper thought of guitarist John Frusciante.
