Aston Villa pasó de perder por cuatro goles en su primer partido de la temporada a ganar por el mismo margen en el segundo.
Con un gol del delantero colombiano Jhon Durán, el Villa sacó provecho de la endeble defensa del visitante Everton para vapulear 4-0 el domingo a los Toffees en la Liga Premier. El técnico español Unai Emery consiguió su victoria más abultada desde que tomó las riendas del club de Birmingham.
Después de sucumbir 5-1 en Newcastle el pasado fin de semana, el Villa se adelantó 2-0 tras los goles del capitán John McGinn y el mediocampista brasileño Douglas Luiz — de penal — en el primer tiempo. El atacante jamaicano Leon Bailey y Durán sentenciaron en el complemento. Durán anotó a los 75, menos de un minuto después ingresar al partido por Ollie Watkins.
